Definition: A workplace-based training program involving classroom and workplace studies, as well as supervised on-the-job training, during which the apprentice learns the knowledge, skills, tools, and materials of an occupation. Apprentices who complete program requirements and pass the required exam(s) receive a Certificate of Qualification (the term used for trade certification varies by province and territory) and journeyperson status.
