What is the brand?

A joint initiative of the provinces and territories through the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) and Canada's federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), the Imagine Education au/in Canada brand establishes Canada and its provinces and territories as a preferred world class destination for international students looking to pursue their education abroad.

The Imagine Education au/in Canada brand signals that its holder consistently provides high quality education programs, deals with international students in accordance with recognized codes of practice, and is subject to quality assurance mechanisms that monitor adherence to set standards.

To be authorized to use the Imagine Education au/in Canada brand, an institution must be eligible (see list of eligible institutions), and have successfully applied to use the brand.

Who is eligible?

Each year, provinces and territories submit to the CMEC Secretariat a list of institutions that are eligible to apply [PDF] to use the brand.

Decisions regarding eligibility are guided by recognized national and international standards of quality and practice, such as the Pan-Canadian Degree Qualifications Framework [PDF], the Procedures and Standards for New Degree Program Quality Assessment (CMEC Framework), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Guidelines for Quality Provision in Cross-border Higher Education [PDF].

What are the benefits for authorized users?

Educational institutions and organizations authorized to use the brand under an agreement with the CMEC can use the brand in their own materials, participate in fairs, events and meetings organized abroad by the Canadian government, and appear or advertise in promotional material it prepares for such events.
