Read the contents of the document

Read and assimilate the details contained in all documents submitted in their original language, with the support of a translated copy if needed.

For internal procedures:
  • Use the document translation provided (if needed). Take into account that:
    • the terminology used may be incorrectly interpreted;
    • some information may have been partially or completely omitted;
    • the ability to read documents in their original language may prove extremely helpful.
  • Read the academic certificate, diploma, or degree to corroborate information coherence, such as the:
    • name of the issuing educational institution;
    • name and title of the institution's signing authority or officer responsible;
    • name of the academic credential awarded;
    • field of study;
    • conferral date of the credential;
    • name of the credential recipient.
  • Read the academic transcript, grade sheet, or index to corroborate information coherence, such as:
    • admission requirements were met, for level and grading;
    • course titles;
    • grades;
    • grade point average (GPA);
    • credit hours;
    • learning outcomes;
    • appropriate benchmarks;
    • accepted credits transferred from other educational institutions;
    • transition to/from other academic programs before completion;
    • period of study.
  • Read the professional qualification to corroborate information coherence, such as:
    • name of issuing organization (e.g. professional regulatory organization name);
    • conferral date of the qualification;
    • current standing or period of validity;
    • professional requirements;
    • associated legislation regulating the practice.
  • Check for any noticeable inconsistencies, such as:
    • misspellings and/or typographical errors;
    • missing or misplaced words/information;
    • inconsistent terminology (e.g., title of the credential);
    • alterations to the content.
